Well dang!

If the egg is down above vent, there is no mistaking, it takes most the whole pelvis . If it's not there , it takes more time ,

The vent pic you shared, didn't 100% convince me was an egg. But pictures can be hard to tell stuff, and if was just starting to come into that area but not fully in.

Weight, I would expect her to go up a little more than ten grams , because my quakers go up 15 g minimum, even though the egg is only 6 grams. The ovaries real expand and other stuff. One cockatoo keeper , had hers go up 30 -35 g before egg, I think the egg ended up being 16g but she had the larger species, an umbrella I think .

Has she lost any weight with decreased eating? Ir has she gained?

She's getting everything ready beforehand by the looks of it.
If you think about birds in the wild, they build the nest before the female will go in and lay her egg(s).

It’s so hard to know what to do do you let them make a nest or not suppose it’s like somebody saying last minute no you can’t give birth here to us haha :meh:

Dolly's previous owners told us she never laid an egg before...with all the other lies he told me though, I'm not sure if I believe him or not.

Well, just got her blood test results back and everything is perfect - all within normal ranges, and her fecal is clean. So I'm pleased with that. After talking with the doc about all that's going on, she says it sounds like an egg too (appetite, weird poop, nesting behavior, lump under the vent) but if nothing happens over the weekend to call Monday and they'll get her in for an xray to be sure everything is good.

Her attitude/behavior is totally normal, no fluffing, lethargy, etc, so I don't *think* anything is wrong... But she's my greatest source of anxiety in my life :roflmao: I'll keep giving her pep talks through the weekend and see if we can't make this damn egg happen.

Don't stress her out!!! Lol you're a worry wart as it is. Just let her be and it's good that you can take her to the vets if nothing happens by Monday. Great news about her overall health too!!! :)

Telling me not to worry is like telling me not to breathe :roflmao:

I need some Prozac or something.

Definitely. In just a year she's pretty much taken over my life

Oh, how I can relate to this completely. Yesterday I peeked in on Waffle's cage and she was sound asleep in the middle of the afternoon...so I had to keep peeking in on her for the next hour. :shmde:

You are such a good bird mama! You are doing everything right & trusting your instincts, and consulting the vet as needed. I am a big fan of CBD oil if that's something you can get your hands on...but I actually took a Xanax when Waffle was in the ER so...

Some birds like a little privacy for egg laying, other seem to lay them on their owners/in their hands. So you will have to see what type of bird Isadora is. My girls like to lay in private and will wait until I go away, preferably out of the room  Obviously, they're a very different species but still something to consider.

Welp. As of this evening there's no lump whatsoever. Her vent area is totally smooth. There's also no egg anywhere.

False alarm everyone. I'm just insane

I keep trying to tell her that but she's like a kid on a sugar rush. She's probably driving Isadora crazy...lol

AND your learning may help others in the future!
Can eggs get reabsorbed? Is that a thing that can happen?

I was just telling a friend who was admiring the antics of pet birds that they are not for the feint of heart. But they are such a special bond that it’s worth it. At least that’s what I keep telling myself. :D
