Could you please tell us as a lot of us have air purifiers what brand was yours that took fire? Think of it as saving a life. I am very scared by your post as we have an air purifier and it’s called RabbitAir. Please just name the brand.
It was a Honeywell machine. RabbitAir is top quality.

I think lots of people also have Honeywells. Has an electrician looked to see what happened, like if a seed husk or something caused this?

John, my heartfelt condolences. May your memories of Tika, Amanda, Mr. Chirpy, Hal, and Scooter X be for a blessing.
You, and your flock, have taught us all much. Please know we are sending support and as you are ready, please know your voice here is important. I wish you healing and health.

I can't believe I'm just seeing this. I don't know what to say. Sorry seems so meaningless, though I am so truly sorry. You were one of first responders to TD's plight when I joined over 6 years ago. The first person I followed! I've always respected your opinions, knowledge and love of birds. Please know how much we all think of you and care about you. So, so sorry.

Hello all. It has been a while now since I've been an actively participating member in this wonderful community. Life has its bumps and turns. Some are bigger than others and some are gaping holes. I joined this forum 14 years ago. I’ve known so many members over the years. Some are still around. Many are not. Many of you know me. Many do not. I would like think that some of the things I've posted and written about over the years has helped many birds and their owners.

I feel I owe it to those who do know me that may wonder why I just sort of stopped participating. I won't go into much detail and I'm not looking for any pity. It's just the facts of life.

Life has been hard and even life changing for many many people everywhere the last few years. Everyone knows. The world is a different place.

About 18 months ago my wife fell and suffered a pretty severe brain injury. A severe and on going issue. There is no free time any more between caring for her, earning a living (she also can not work anymore) and trying to give my birds what they need.

About a couple of months ago now, (It's taken this long just to get the courage to tell people) my wife was feeling quite well that day so we decided to go out for a nice dinner. I put all the birds to bed in their sleep room like always. Closed the door and we left for the evening.

Upon arriving home and opening the door I could smell smoke. WTF. I ran to the bird room. Something in the air purifier shorted out and started to smoke. It did trip the breaker at some point but not before filling the room with smoke. It killed them all. I just wanted to let everyone know.

To my beloved birds. Tika. Amanda. Mr. Chirpy. Hal. ScooterX. May you rest in peace. Until we meet again.
Hear our cherished birds prayer and give your birds a giant hug from uncle John.

Oh John, it's been a while since I have been here too. I'm devastated for you all. Between your wife being sick and all the beautiful birds. I'm so sad. I'm so sorry.

Oh man so sorry for your loss on your feathered kids. You are such a great bird dad. I hope your wife is doing better now. I had a loss of my B&G Kuka along 2 years ago and it is so heart breaking. I for some reason just saw this topic.

Thank you all for your thoughts and prayers. Life has not really improved much. I am fine. My wife is not. There is giant void in my life right now. I push on.
