An interesting article that points out what I feel like most dog people know.
Part of my research into getting a poodle was a dog known for longevity and a square frame (not longer than tall) to help avoid wrist and back issues which seem to be apparent in just about every mix in rescue atm since they are all shih tzu/byb chihuahua mixes around me.
Personally I’ve had one mix breed live to 10, who we lost to oral cancer, our other lived o 16, who we also lost to cancer. I’m hoping my current two live forever, lol. My poodles breeder had 2 retired dams age 17 and 18, who didnt look older than 10.
Working in daycare I saw all manner of mixes and purebreds, from mixes with real twisty wrists that touched when standing, to GSD’s with terrible hips at 4 years old, to our favorite Newfie who was 16 and still kicking (a true miracle)
