Hello, I’m mainly a reader in Avian Avenue. There’s a lot of great advice in here. My Jenday Conure is not doing well. I’m afraid I’m too late. I had him to two different vets. The 2nd one was an Avian vet. Both vets are animate about pellets. He always had pellets available for him to eat, but always preferred a seed mixture. I never would see him actually eating the pellets, but would find broken pieces and crumbs in that bowl. The first vet did the blood work and he had a high blood sugar and uric acid. The second vet said that could be attributed to a vitamin A and D deficiency. she gave him a vitamin shot and told me to continue to converting him over to all pellets and in the meantime give him red palm oil in his food and raw veggies. Well, today he took his bath in his water bowl as usual, and he was ok this morning. I took a nap and headed downstairs to my computer for an hour or so came up to make dinner and he was still in the same place. I see drinking water at times, but he’s mainly sitting on his perch with his eyes closed. Now my husband has him sitting quietly on his chest and Oliver just threw up some water. If he’s diabetic and having some sort reaction due to high or low sugar, then I am at a loss. I don’t know what to do for him. I think tonight is his last.
