Will this bar spacing be okay?

Hi, I’m new here but I’ve had my two rainbow lorikeets for 5yrs. ☺
I decided they deserved a cage upgrade and honestly I am tired of replacing powder coated cages every year, so I’ve purchased them a very large, very expensive 304 stainless cage.
It says bar spacing is 2.5cm or 1” and I’m worrying now that this will be too big! Is bar spacing measured including the width of one whole bar (in this case 4mm) because it’s centre of bar to centre of bar? Or is the actual space likely to be 2.5cm please help I’m scared.

You are best to contact the manufacturer or supplier of the cage and ask them to be sure.

It depends on the manufacturer. Some do it center of the bar, others do measure edge to edge.

Wow! What a beautiful cage.
They are going to absolutely love their new habitat.

I ordered of from eBay ☺ the seller bmwpet2010 has them manufactured to order in china. The quality is amazing, I had it put together on my end by a boilermaker and he was surprised at the quality of the build and welds. I somehow got upgraded from 201 stainless to 304 so perhaps good to check with the seller if they could be made in 304 for you too.
Here is the link for the cage I ordered! This one has the 2.5cm bar spacing.

This is one identical with smaller spacing for the littler birds ☺ this one unfortunately wasn’t listed when I purchased haha.

You needed a boilermaker to put it together?
So is the company you dealt with Australian based?

The eBay seller is Australian based but the cages came from china.
So if for example you’re not happy with the cage for a valid reason you only have to ship it back to the Aus supplier?

God, I would hope so the eBay store says they have a warehouse here so I assume.
Also there was import fees to pay before having the cage delivered since it’s international so that’s also something to remember. It was an extra $700

I am not sure I would be willing to spend that much on a cage that I have not actually seen from an ebay store that has the product coming from China. I am just not a thrill seeker lol Very possible to deal with a local welder and source the SS yourself and be sure the SS is of good quality etc. If they had them in stock and I could see them before buying I would feel differently.

My dad and I were going to make a travel cage and a larger cage for my macaw as my dad was a welder who mostly welded SS but he passed away before we got to it :(

Haha I feel that I was feeling sick in my guts until it was here and set up. I’m not usually the gambling type of girl.
I had this same friend make me a SS avery for the low cost of materials and a carton of beer a couple of years ago so it’s definitely possible to get them made here if you know the right people!

Its not the same at all but if you did want more pics and videos of the cage I’m happy to send them to you! Or if you’re ever in Brisbane you’re welcome to come look!
Im so sorry to hear about your Dad ❤ I’m sure building those together would have been another lovely memory of him to have forever.
