Hi, Carole, it's good to hear from you.
The Pinatas I mean are the ones that look like they are woven out of natural fibers, some are off white and some are purplish red, it has little woven boxes on it and also stiff thin bits like threads. The packaging said Made in the Phillipines, and it said it was safe but it seems like Aracaris are so different from parrots. I put the toy into his cage and he seemed really interested in it but I was worried so I took it out of the cage when I had to leave for work (aren't I a mean mommy?).
I still can't decide on the name - I am deciding between Isaac (God laughed) and Alcyon (the kingfisher in the Pogo cartoon who looks a lot like an Aracari).
He is really funny - he doesn't want to come onto my hand in the daytime but in the evening he will fly out of his cage to land at my feet. I pick him up then and he climbs right up to my shoulder an snuggles under my hair and goes to sleep. Then he doesn't want to leave my shoulder to go to bed. He still doesn't use the tent I made for him or the one I bought from Annrose (I thought he might prefer the one with the soft fleece inside!). Instead, he sits on his perch in the back corner.
We are waiting for some new perches and new toys - he is fun to buy for, like having a grandchild!
