We have quite a few pets and not much room in the car. Anyone else keep tiny cages (for budgies, cockateils, small conures ect) for emergency transport, easy to find no assembly needed? I feel bad having them, but they came in handy when I took public transport as they are not heavy. I was only taking him in this cage for travel home. 746782.jpg

Yep. No reason to feel bad. Small travel cages keep them safe. We use plastic dog crates for our U2, CAG & B&G Macaw. We use folded towels in the bottom & just toss them in the washer once home.

I have tiny cages. I use them for vet visits (my vet is just 10 minutes away). They are lightweight and small. I have a handfull and they all fit inside an IKEA bag - which is my emergency evac plan.

I keep two ‘starter kit’ sized ones. I have extras in case of fighting, but during our recent move I just used the two. It’s more practical & would allow me to easily evacuate everyone.

This is C4 in her travel cage. I try to put her in her travel cage daily and take her outside for about 5 minutes. Hopefully she'll find her travel cage to be a happy place for future vet visits, hurricane evacuations, etc. Parrot C4 backpack.jpg

Yep! Small cages are safest for travelling.

I’d prioritize this, if possible!

I think most of us have smaller emergency or travel cages.
My budgie cage for transporting or emergencies isn’t quite that small unfortunately as I do like those weeny cages for traveling but it is way smaller than his daily cage.
My carrier for my cocky is a cat crate which actually needs replacing due to his damage from chewing it and the carrier for my macaw is a pak o bird.
It is safer to travel with birds in smaller cages than large cages where they can move about more.

I think it's a great idea for everyone with pets to have an evacuation plan with all of the components including evacuation cages. I have a lot of animals (a farm) and so I have had very thought out plans for if I ever have to evacuate the entire farm. It will be very very tight but I can get everyone off the mountain in a single trip. Never had to use it but did have to evacuate from a couple of hurricanes when I lived on the coast.

I have quite a few animals myself. All the carriers are in closets close by, I wanna be able to grab all of them and pack them up.
