Tea Tree Oil Fumes?

So long story short, my husband is having a fungal skin issue and the dermatologist prescribed him a body wash that contains a good amount of tea tree oil in it.

I don't plan to let my conure eat the body wash obviously, but I know tea tree oil is very toxic, and I'm worried about the smell. The body wash is quite pungent!
Also come to think of it, will there be residue on his skin that my bird might be able to get into her mouth?

I want my husbands skin to get better, but I also don't want my bird to get sick (or worse)

(Just realized I think I posted this in the wrong forum and can't seem to delete it)

I’m thinking if it’s just a body wash, perhaps it should be fine. But I am no doctor or vet. I guess if you’re worried, you can let the “smell” go away first, perhaps place the bird in another room or perhaps limit the bird’s interaction with your husband until the “smell” is mostly gone.

Use the exhaust fan in the bathroom while showering and allow a bit of time for the scent to wear off before getting close to your bird. My son used to use so many tea tree products, body wash, shampoo and a hair oil with it in too (I hate the smell but he likes it) so I used to ask him to stay away from the birds room for a short while as the scent does settle down.

It is something your husband needs for his health so just take some extra measures (airing out scent and allowing the scent to settle before approaching bird) to keep both him and your bird bird safe :)

Hope the skin issue clears up fast.
