Hi new to the forum so if I’m posting this in the wrong place I do apologiz. I have a Sun conure, Oliver, who just turned two. I live in New Jersey so it will be getting warm soon. Last summer we got Ollie in July and we go a bird carrier but quickly learned it was dangerous. He was in the carrier out back with us in the shade when I noticed he was panting. I grab the carrier & took him indoors. I opened it and realized it was suffocating in there. We have used it for the winter but need something safer. All the carriers on Amazon have plastic does anyone no where I can find a safe carrier for my little man.

They don't make them anymore I don't think but a lot of folks have been lucky to find second hand Kings aluminum carriers or they use smaller sized cages as carries and just make sure to zip tie the base so it can't come apart unexpectedly and to clip the doors closed. There's also several brands of more heavy duty travel cages that are bars I can't recall the names but I know Petsmart and Petco carry them.

I have a really good travel cage I use for his sleep cage so he can get the required beauty sleep he needs lol but it’s heavy and not something I can walk around with I was hoping for a travel type carrier/ backpack but I can’t find any without at least one plastic window which makes them very hot inside in the summer heat.

Look on amazon. Search breathable or mesh bird carriers.

I second this, use it almost daily and there is no wear and tear. My only issue is you cant see in too well, and the perch is pretty low so can be daunting for birds to enter sometimes.

If you get one of those I'd suggest letting everyone here know how it is, if you like it, is it well made, etc. I.E....pros & cons.

I have a Pak-o-bird from Celltei. They are very expensive but it's pretty indestructible and the company was awesome to work with! They emailed me to make sure I meant African ringneck not IRN so that the perch height possibilities would be good enough for my ARN's tail length. They even sent me a video of an ARN they rescued coming home in his Pak-o-bird :) Answered all my questions and really helped me figure out the specifications that would work best.

At the time I had a big chunk of money saved up from my former dog's end of life medical costs, so it was kind of an impulse buy after I saw video of people fleeing Ukraine with their pets hurriedly placed in pillowcases etc. I wanted a carrier that was lightweight, easy to spot, and could be used as a temporary cage if needed.

The only downside I've found is that my Quaker is more resistant to going in the Pak-o-bird than a square travel cage - I think it's the way the flap closes downward. But training didn't take long :)
