It's so hard to know with egg prevention!

I would think though that it might take a cycle for their bodies to realize it's always light this duration/late in the day now, so it probably isn't too crazy that they'd show signs of whooooo hot girl summer still on

I agree with @Parutti its surely going to take a cycle or two to adjust their bodies to the difference in cycle lighter hours longer

I would let him share a cage if they are going to that much effort but obviously keep an eye on them which I know you will it sounds to me that they are happier together

I think hormones are just something we have to deal with until it’s not their system but obviously need to do what we can to prevent eggs

but my votes to let them share:heart:

So I have the girls together in one cage now, since the 14th I think...

At first they really seemed to get hormonal wound up.

But that's all calmed down. They are very very happy to share a cage ! Has decreased in cage frustrated vocals. They move around advise sbd share everything, no issues with food. Weight checks confirmed this .

When I tried in the past to have Penny and Pikachu share , while they did great, Penny would start dropping weight. Pikachu had no problem sharing with Penny, never tried to drive Penny away from food. It was just Penny felt uncomfortable sharing.

Everyone has adjusted to longer days too.

Have you adjusted to their longer days too? What does Ta-Dah think about it - I picture she still gets her mommy and me time with Phoebe and Pikachu new flatmates :)

I actually am loving the new longer days!
I can vacuum around the cages in the evening! The budgies are more active late , I still cage everyone at 7 pm so the budgies have the place to themselves while it's still all lit up !

Ta-dah is confused.. now that you mention it she isn't asking for 8 pm mommy and me time. We now have our time first in the morning ,just sorta happened I guess, she wants out first and supervisor breakfast veggies and taste testing

As someone who is surrounded by winter hormones at the moment, how is the prevention plan working still?

I am sorry! Yeah, I have all boys--so no eggs. Just screaming, screaming, screaming, not wanting to get to the cage at night, biting, and so on. Oh well *shrug*

I can say I failed. I never kept light consistent, the whole point is to not have changing lengths of days ugh! I've got a new timer , thst I haven't figured out yet ...

But what I also have is hormonal girls ! Spring scream, mating, extra territorial...bites from Phoebe...moody Pikachu

No eggs yet....I'm going to try harder
But for this experiment I failed . I failed to keep the same length of light

I've been disrupting their routine. I put them back in their room in different positions, cages facing different directions, etc. Same time as usual, just mixing up how it all happens. This week, I was having the house exterior painted. I had to keep them in my bedroom in their travel cages for 2 days in case the fumes couldn't be avoided--easier to flee to a hotel. All of this chicanery seems to have broken the spell for bit anyway!

You're not a loser! It may just not be working correctly. I haven't had lights and timers because Opie is terrified if I put a light on top of his cage...even a battery-operated lantern, lol!

Does the company who makes the timer have a number you can call for help?

I need to Google, I've had this one for years for my sea horses when I kept them , well really for my macro algae..maybe it's kaput it shows it's set , on , and I set main brain to correct time ...but won't work...so frustrating, it's fancy and water proof ! The new one I bought fur 25 bucks shorted out..got wet ...just don't want to buy another ...

Im using a full metal floor lamp next to cage so nothing on their cage . I have all metal or ceramic or glass lamps , only one cloth lampshade left ;l my lamp shade lander's! Had to change my aesthetic!
