Amazing, exhausting, joyous, worrisome ...and the list goes on. The first month was amazing and highly exhausting. Little man had wings and definitely knew how to use them, except for those moments when he'd forget how to brake and would take a header into the windows. Even mini blinds didn't completely solve the issue, so....as heart breaking as it was, his vet and I discussed and decided that clipping his wings was probably the best option. He became very depressed for a few weeks, until the day he figured out he could still flap his way across moderate distances, He couldn't get much lift, but he could still cruise from his room to the kitchen [about 18 feet] and to other places he enjoyed being. Slowing him down has resulted in far fewer crashes, and has allowed him to get a little maturity/understanding of what's safe and what isn't. So, hopefully this will be the first and last time we do this clipping thing.
Otherwise it has been a magical mystery tour of new foods, new toys, new people, all of which he seems to take in stride. He's not very interested in the new people thing and tends to cling to me. He's not afraid, just not interested in getting close to others...can we spell V-E-L-C-R-O?????
His favorite color is yellow [and sometimes orange], big on foot toys, and his favorite food appears to still be peas. I'm essentially doing the raw whole food diet with him [Dr. Jason Crean's method], and he gets all excited when I start putting a new batch of soak seed/grain and nuts together. He's also a big fan of dried flowers, especially floating in his bird tea. We're still deciding how we like our veggies/fruit....chopped, chunks, on a skewer, in a dish ...all over the kitchen table
But so far he seems to like most everything I offer, even beets and brussell sprouts! Yippie!!!!
Attempting to talk is not high on his list yet, but he does like to "sing", which is pretty darn funny. My head is still a part time landing strip, but that has also slowed down a bit, for which I am grateful. So, all in all it's been a very eventful 3 months...can't wait to see what the next 3 bring!
