My GCC has suddenly taken to climbing all over my hoodie and crawling into pockets and trying to crawl into dark places while making lots of happy noises. She refuses to get off when I ask her to step up. I eventually have to pick her up and put her back onto her perch or cage. I am hesitant to allow her to do this because I am worried that it might be nesting behavior that could lead to worse behaviors or even egg-laying. I DO NOT want that!!

To those who are very familiar with conures, are my concerns legit, or is this behavior harmless?

THANKS!!!

HEre is a good article about cavity seeking;
Thank you. That is exactly what I was looking for. I am going to have to find a way to help her move away from this behavior.

I feel bad for her!

I have that problem with mine as well. That article helped me a lot. Something i didn't notice in the article, it is were also hitting into spring and our parrots are going into that hormonal time...I found giving mine a sleep cage so he can get the extra sleep helps cool the jets as well [this may not be a problem for you, but mine's main cage is in main area and I am up late].

Thank you for the input! I have an additional problem that about a year ago, my bird started sleeping perched on a bulletin board that is hanging in her room. I have not been able to get her to sleep in her cage since. She spends a lot of time perched on her cage, and she sits in it, but at bedtime, she flies to her bulletin board.

Do you think I should make her sleep in her cage again?
