I haha cockatiel that loves her mama and I want to go on vacation for 4 days. If I take her I will have to take a flight that’s $250 more than Spirit Airlines bc Spirit doesn’t allow birds to Puerto Rico, and since I’m taking my adult son that mean I’d be paying the extra $250 for each of us to go on the more expensive at that accepts birds. I considered getting someone to come in and feed/water her but I’m scared she will stop eating or just herself because she's really attached to me. Any suggestions. I feel I’m between a rock & a very hard no win situation. ????? Help

I would think it would be less stress on her to be at home. Besides that , who knows what heebie geebies she might pick up. My girlfriend will be going away for a week later this month. She wants to facetime with our birds while shes gone.

Do you have a friend that can stop by to feed and water your feathered friend?

I also would be concerned that there would be issues at customs about bringing a bird in, if you haven't already looked into that. Do you have a friend she could stay with or could stay at your house?

I get someone to stay the night. I'm lucky enough to have someone who will do that. When I return he has plucked a few feathers but other than that nothing and he recovers fast. I am his person no one else can touch him. I put him on an airline once and it was such stress on both of us.

This is a lesson that all birds should learn just in case. Have some one come and take care of her, give her some extra toys to play with and enjoy your vacation. Tell her when you are leaving and when you return. Have the person keeping them tell them each day when you are coming home and then spoil them rotten when you get home.
My birds all learned to be independent also.
