I agree , definitely heard of cavity seeking in both sexes !
I do want to find out!

Koda is kinda mad at me and frustrated with me not letting them cavity seek...I'm s little worried about grabbing and cutting a nail ...but their nails need trim anyway. Frankly so does Ta-dah nails. So I will have to work up the nerve soon!
Navi is not DNA tested. I can’t bring myself to purposely hurt him. I was told by his previous owner he’s a boy. Although I’m 99% sure he’s a girl :laughing6: Absolutely ZERO male cockatiel behavior from Navi lol. I’m still guessing boy for Koda!

I have really been thinking lately about adding another cockatiel instead of a Quaker so I may have to call my vet and ask if they do DNA testing. I don’t want a mixed gender of the same species household.

It is especially hard at this stage of our bumpy road. But I prefer to know abd Koda is already a little mad at me....might as well get it out of the way and then convince I'm a good momma who can be trusted

I had to do stuff with dad so didn't get clippers ...I use to have kitten clipper sbd baby human finger nails mini clipper both with well in trimming bird nails ...and Ta-dah needs hers trimmed too

You’ve got this! Better to get it over with sooner rather than later.

Id sure prefer a girl friendship, so keeping my fingers crossed
Poor Ta-dah has always been the giver in her relationships...Koda loves receiving preen love but rarely returns even when Ta-dah begs by bowing her head and asking. Koda will do enough just to get herself preened again

I hope you are able to. Ta-da and Burt were best beds her first 7 years with me , then Burt passed sbd she had Neptune, when Neptune was lost she has had no one fir several years. Abd seeing the other green cheeks together, did make we want that again for her . If I could find an older one needing a home as Ta-da is getting up there..

Do keep in mind not all will be friends. We have green cheeks seriously maime and even kill other green cheeks. ...they can be fierce. Odds are better when added as young ones or adding a young one with your older , but not Guaranteed. I do think if taken slow , giving each other a chance to get used to another in the room and being very careful when you do first introduce in a neutral area to not allow squabble at very first meeting increases success.

I was careful, tho it it went fast , to base on both birds behavior and comfort level and I did do at least a hundred walk over with one to the others cage and treat both and switch who I did with. And I did sit with one next to other cage and just chill. Never allowed one to land in the ones caged while they inside. I do feel comfortable reading and interpret behavior and cues

My green cheek Nayru actually has a friend already! My husbands green cheek Astrid. Although I’ve been slowly introducing Nayru and Navi. Navi is my cockatiel. That’s who I would love to get a friend for.

Sorry for mix up . But hopefully a good heads up fir others with green cheeks!

On cockatiel I'm not knowing the best ways on adding a new one . Tho I'm sure postive association and observing behavior and patience are still good basics

That’s okay, I mix their names up sometimes lol!

Anyone who knows me knows cockatiels are my heart bird. I’d have so many of them if I had the time and space.
