Like it says she's started holding up that foot and favoring the good one. Not sure what's going on but she's over 20 as far as we know so might be arthritis. The foot is nice and pink like usual and we don't think she's fallen on it or anything lately. Was looking up natural pain relievers that are safe for birds and sister called the vet to try and make an appointment. When I touched her foot she doesn't complain any more then normal and she can sorta still grip the bars with it if she thinks she has to.
Any suggestions to make her feel better till it either heals or the vet gives us a diagnosis would be appreciated.
She actually let me lightly scritch her head last night and today but maybe she's not feeling good so she decided to like it rather than pull away.

Things can happen to make ouchie foot. But it can also be from things like kidney pain or higher up pain if foot it's self isn't painful to touch. So good you are getting a check up

Vet called us back this morning and Kiwi goes in tomorrow at 4pm after sister Sandy is back from work. The tech took a lot of notes on the phone and more when sister confirmed the appointment would work.

Aww I hope things go well at the vets and you can find out what the problem is with her foot.
Hopefully the vet can give her some medication for the pain.

Her left foot is a bit swollen but no super obvious signs of damage. She is underweight but deemed healthy considering her age and living in her tiny cage. Doc gave us some Meloxidyl pain med for 3 days, and
Chlorhexidine to clean her foot with for 5 days and they'll call us and see how she's doing.
Getting her out of her tiny house was fun seeing how she didn't want to come out and I wasn't sure how hard or if she would try and bite. Wrapped my hand in a towel and chased her around till she was forced to step onto my toweled hand and then took her towards the small bird carrier we have. She jumped to the ground from fairly low so I just scooped her up in the towel and plopped her into the carrier. Everybody at the vet was excited to see a parrot as they don't get many but the lady vet know how to treat them. she was mostly quiet with some outraged squawks when she was toweled and checked over, plus beak and nails trimmed, heart sounded good and dropped back to normal rate quickly after her initial shock at being poked at.
I believe she said she weighs 184 grams give or take but seems light but good.

The pictures are after we got home and I offered my hand to help her climb out of the box. She climbed on nicely and happily hung out like this, even allowed me to walk to my recliner and eventually set her on my knee where she ate and drank, and tried to snooze for probably close to 4 hours. When I finally had to get up she was miffed and tried to bite my hand but she really wasn't trying or isn't used to biting because she mostly just poked and scuffed my hand and arm, complaining the whole time she didn't want to move.:xflove:

4 hours! She really did like hanging out with you. Maybe it is just the initial getting out of the cage that's the problem.
But in any case you are a good sport to let her blob on you for four hours!
I guess you'll be getting her out for meds for a few days, so I hope they turn out to be a good experience and practice for both of you.

She wasn't sure and we never saw anything obvious happen, she just started trying not to use it and holding it up. She probably tweaked it or fell on it somehow and was back to her normal spot by the time we noticed.
