This morning when I went to get JoeJoe out of the aviary for breakfast, I found him hanging on the bamboo. I thought he was playing as usual and took a pic:
He bounced up and caught hold of the swing above him. That's when I noticed his left foot was caught in the bamboo. I tried to release it, but it was his one curly nail which was wedged fast on a bamboo joint/fork. I rushed to get the clippers, but they were too fat. So I got some long pointy scissors and cut away at the tip of his nail. Then switched to the clippers. I was amazed that he let me do all this without biting. At last released! A grateful JoeJoe. I was surprised that he had stayed silent throughout his ordeal.
Here's a pic of the nail before - it's the foot in the water (I had made an appointment with the vet to get it cut):
His toe/foot was obviously sore and JoeJoe was quiet and slept for the rest of the day without eating breakfast :
That's the nail now - the shorter toe. I managed to trim all his nails and cancelled the vet appointment:
