How often to feed lovebird?

I’ve recently switched my bird to an all veggie diet. I make him chop out of a few veggies, I don’t always use the same: Spinach broccoli carrots sweet potatoes peas radish peppers cucumber beets yellow squash chia. I’d like to know how often i should make him chop since it goes bad in a couple of hours. Should it be in the morning and before bedtime?

I think birds need access to food 24/7. I also would worry that he's not getting enough nutrients unless you're giving a wide variety of foods. I would think about giving pellets in between the vegetables. Also spinach should only be given periodically. Not every day. Too much iron isn't good for little birds.

I definitely agree with Sunnysmom!

I find my birds will wake and head straight to the food bowl so having dry food available around the clock is essential to be sure they are not going hungry and also are getting all the nutrients they need.

Exactly what the others have said. Never leave your birds without food. They have such fast metabolisms and you never know how much they’re going to eat when food is available. They really need more than just veggies available periodically. Pellets for sure, as long as they recognize them as food. Birds can and will starve if they are left with something they don’t see as food.

Look for something well known and from there go with whatever your bird will eat
I personally avoid ones that are pet shop own brand, and unknown brands with a very low price point. I buy Hagen Tropican, Psittacus and Zupreem naturals. Harrisons, Roudybush, Versele-laga Nutriibird, Lafabers, Higgins and others are also popular.

I use Higgins InTune because mine like the colored pellets. But Zara has given you a good list (including Higgins) as well, just in case you have trouble finding one or more of the brands!
