Oscar finally had his visit at the Avian vet yesterday. The Dr was amazing! He got Oscar out of the cage (on his towel draped finger), he held him and petted him (wrapped in towel), listened to his heart and lungs, looked in his nose, his eyes, looked at his feet, weighed him, and took the time to sit and answer questions from both George and I!
Oscar, he says, seems quite healthy, though he is a bit overweight. 131 grams. He also has a deformed talon on his right foot. That's it! It was good news!
The bad news is, I got Oscar to step up on my towel draped finger! Okay, that part wasn't bad, but when I was putting him into his big cage, a perch came crashing down at the same time! It was one of those huge boings I had put in while he was in his travel cage and somehow I didn't attach it well...now he's back to square one (or maybe negative one) with me as far as trust goes!
However, he did fly straight to the top of his cage!
