I read on my CAV site where she talks about a sun conure and difficulty breathing hours AFTER the family had cooked hamburgers in the house....
she doesn't think you need to BURN Teflon for birds to have problems...SOME birds can be more susceptible to the fumes than others....:hug8:

OH , thanks for the warning...that is pretty scary. Just not worth having it in the house.

I just think it is better to get rid of all teflon cooking. Those kinds of grills get very hot and there is no way to regulate the temp. I have a brand new panini grill with the tags still on it that I got as a gift two years ago. I am just too afraid to use it.

Thanks for the warning. At my old house I used to go out on the back porch to use my pancake griddle and waffle iron.:D Here it's a bit scary because my FIL uses teflon down in his kitchen so I just make sure the door to our area which is away from the kitchen area and on the next floor is closed and with something along the bottom of it. It freaks me out.

All this stuff scares me!

We use any of the non-stick appliances in a sealed room as far away from the birds with the outside windows open. Some of it I just can't afford to replace right now and it's not a common thing that we need to use it. I definitely won't use anything in the kitchen, though.

Does anyone know of a bread machine that doesn't have non-stick in the pan part??

It's more an issue of time....the bread machine lets you make different types really easily by knowing all of the settings for each type. I would love to be able to make it from scratch....but right now if I don't have bread machine, there will be no bread! :)

I am just picturing the neighbors looks when you go outside to bake loaves of bread!

I do not think you understood my solution
make it in your bread machine but befor last rising remove it set it in pans let it rise and bake it in oven , up to it baking your bread the temp is so low wont hurt its the baking temp is trouble so mix last rise as you would if making cinrolls ok cinamon rolls you take out befor last rising
good luck potato buns fast moist ohh so good easy to do,,lol by old fashion way,,lol

LOL This is true....but it wouldn't be the first time I've been looked at funny! :) Perhaps I would invest in a nice big fence first!

You're right, I missed what you were saying the first time. That does sound like a good solution, thanks!

When I re-did my kitchen the electrician (BIL) tried to talk me into getting a new exhaust fan that vents into a filter instead of my old 1950's era exhaust fan that vents outside and sucks air outside like a wind tunnel. I got stubborn, he got annoyed and we went at it. When I MADE him understand that NOTHING gets cooked in ANYTHING unless the exhaust fan is on and venting outside because fumes could kill my birds he backed down. We got another cabinet that camouflages the fan plus extra storage so it was a win-win thing! And I taught the BIL something about birds that he can use as an electrical contractor in case he is doing a job in a bird household. :highfive:
