Normally, I'd just keep to my birds but this is just too exciting to keep to myself.

I breed snake, ball pythons specifically. I hatched out a clutch last year and the two I kept are doing great. So, at the beginning of this year, I paired up one of my other girls with one heck of a handsome boy and after a 4 pairings and a couple of miscalculations later, I have a clutch of 7-8 eggs! HUZZAH!

I'm still very new with all this but hey, at least she laid and I now have 2 months to wait till they hatch. Mama is going to be a firecracker to deal with when checking on her since she's a bit of an ornery one to begin with. I'm just happy to see those pearly whites.

Ah. I got one. I forget about them sometimes.

Can't see all the eggs but here's big mama. Her name is Blondie actually. She's the first snake I bought while at a reptile expo and my first ever reptile expo at that. This is her first time laying. That one odd looking straggler is a slug or an infertile egg. She's got about 8 under her.

Thank you! She's a feisty girl though. She'll hiss at me with a single touch but she's fine once I pick her up. She's going to be interesting when it comes to checking on her eggs. Can't wait to see what babies come out.

We'll be waiting a little while for that!

Do you have them in incubation?
Yeah babies are like that..... big wait and build up so we all appreciate exactly how cute they are for a minute

I believe these eggs are sitting under mum snake??

That's interesting!

@QuakerCraz what was your hatch rate like last year with this method? I don't know of many people that incubate under parents. I wonder if it works better?

Mom will be incubating the eggs. I had a 100% hatch rate last year. Had 5 eggs and each one of them hatched. All of them were healthy babies and I still have two of them. I know of a couple breeders that do exclusive maternal incubation but it's a case of 'to each their own'.

I don't have any updated pictures of the two I kept. They are going to be a year old about the time these new ones hatch. Will be 2 months before they hatch.

I will eventually invest in an incubator when it comes to my more expensive clutches.

Last years clutch fresh out of the egg(you can probably guess the two I kept):

100 percent is really good! Did you have any bad eggs to start with?

I have seen many incubators for sale, but I don't know that they are necessary. If you have a warm area, most people incubate reptile eggs there in a plastic tub with small, ventilation holes. They use a substrate such as hatchrite (I think that's the one!)

I will guess the two pinky ones! I love the normal heads on them.

The top two are my favourite! I take it one of the parents was an albino?

I had one slug out of that clutch.

If you have a lot of clutches, they are highly recommended. Specially if you have a lot of high dollar ones. Hatchrite is the brand but it's really just vermiculite you can get from the garden store. Cheaper.

Yep. They are called killer pieds or super pastel pieds. The pairing was a pastel het pied to a pastel het pied. I was not expecting any pieds let alone 2 killer pieds. For the first clutch, I struck gold with the odds gods.

It's been a while since the eggs were laid and well, they're hatching. Got 7 healthy babies and 2 of them are what I was hoping I'd get. The clutch was looking sketch for a while but I was worried for nothing. All eggs hatched out just fine.

And here are the babies. I definitely need to pair mom and dad together again in the future. These little ones are stunners. Nice clean patterns and beautiful colors. I'm proud of this bunch.
