Hi ya all!
I had a real problem with my dogs refusing dog food when I bought new bags a couple of weeks ago. They would not eat it , for 4 days, even tho I gave them zero other food !
I finally bought 2 other bags of different brands and mixed all together and bought csned good to get them eating...I feel so stupid for not listening to my dogs! They have never refused food before!! What a red flag I ignored!!

I did have leg twitching in Pixie thst at the time I just couldn't figure out , like restless leg syndrome twitching....ugh....and Alfie had Oliver had a seizure,! Now both of them have a history of rare seizures that I have previously worked up and was determined to be idiopathic....so I didn't think anything about that at the time ..

This is mulit brand issue, of unknown cause at this time , all of the brands listed were ones I was feeding.

Mine are now on a brand not listed and pixie let twitching is gone and they are not refusing food.

I just found this video and was like oh wow I wow this happened to me !!

There's been a flurry on Facebook about different stuff with dog food the past few weeks; I do wonder what is going on, especially since many of these do not share factories, but some do share factories and suppliers with other brands that are not implicated. There's a lot of people still feeding these foods in my dog group without any issues, so it's hard to trace.

Merrick is actually owned and manufactured by Purina since 2015.

I hope your dogs are well!

I hope so too.
I talked to a vet friend and this is being investigated and taken seriously, but source or what is causing hasn't been found yet.

Huh… this is definitely interesting.

Like @Mizzely said, there are some of these brands that share factories or manufacturing companies (like the parent company, I mean) and yet whatever is happening isn’t affecting all brands. Color me curious - for example, Mars owns both Royal Canin (high quality food) and Pedigree (lower quality food) and only RC is part of the problem? Why? I’m not asking you specifically why, it’s more of just a general why.

I am so tired of all the dogfood problems. I don't even know what to feed them anymore. Do we know if it just involves dry food or if it includes canned food. My old dog is on canned. My general theory is to feed a wide variety. I have also decided that peas are the likely culprit with the heart conditions. My old dog developed a heart murmur and so I took her off of anything peas. The last two times we went to the vet, the vet has not been able to hear the murmur. Not sure if there is a connection or not but I don't feed peas. I hope they find out soon where the problem is located and fix it.

Yes royal canine is a great brand . Science diet, blue buffalo, it's a lot of brands)!
This isn't shady brands problem, she mentioned in the video or darn I went and watched another by the person testing. It's a source contamination probably, like a grain, a rice, a vitamin, an animal product( Meat) something the companies get as a base ingredient

They mentioned like in the past there was a plastic contamination, an excess vitamin D contamination ( which has happened in zoo food caused several death's)

I hadn't been on Facebook,( I don't use ). I hadn't heard any rumors or anything about this.
But I just had this with my dogs food! I bought some dog food my dogs absolutely refused to eat!. They dumped bowls tried to bury it . So I tried a different brand , I probably all told tried 5 of the brands listed !!! I feel stupid as can be to not have listened to my dogs . I finally was like what the heck , they are just being picky and bought canned food to mix something I never do , and then they ate it. I had vomiting, I attributed to being all these new foods. I had leg twitching which was seizure like , as I have 2 dogs that have seizures, but I again was so stupid and thought maybe hurt their legs jumping from bed. It was very much like restless leg syndrome was back legs random twitching. Alfie had 2 seizures. Now Alfie has had random seizures for life , I had him worked up numerous times and was told was like a random thing and would not be genetic..it was because his son I kept has random m
seizures ...so again I didn't make the connection, but Oliver also had a seizure. Again it's really rare for them to have one , like once a year once every couple of years. I did think wow it's odd for them both to have a couple of seizures within days of each other... Pixie has never had leg twitching before. Sophia has been very restless and jumping up .. I though arthritis she is 16, so I bought new dog beds and deep fluff blankets.

Then I came across this video. As soon as I did , I was like wow this fits , this is exactly what is happening to my dogs!!! For me I'm convinced, something happened..my dogs went 4 days!!! 4 days refusing to eat !! Until I mixed canned food in , and then I had these symptoms ! I wanted to share so at least you know. At least if your dog refuses to eat dog food it has previously eaten, you can be ok I am trashing it and getting a different brand .

During this time they also developed all 4, mild respiratory cough. One my Alf developed green goo in one eye .My vet was unsure of the reason and said should resolve ... thought maybe a mild bacterial infection, I just treated Alfie eye . I never mentioned the food issues because I didn't make the connection. And we decided to watch and see if respiratory symptoms resolved or if all needed antibiotics. It resolved

I finally got nutrish ( because they have liked before, I was still unaware of the issue and hadn't made the connection) they ate it. The leg twitching has stopped. The random vomiting has stopped. My seizure boys haven't had any more seizures. The dumping food bowls has stopped. All the symptoms stopped!

We have the bird flu and mass culling of chicken. It's not supposed to be allowed to use culled chicken for pet food, but I have learned it is used and not regulated....so a possibility however doubtful....

There have been excess pesticides and contamination.. maybe a possibility

A new preservative???

I don't know what
But I'm sharing I am a believer, something happened ..maybe not all batches ...maybe some bags ended up with higher concentration...

I will listen to my dogs in the future, this was a big wake up call to me . I feel very stupid very stupid to have not made the connection

I personally believe there should be stronger regulations in regards to pet food of all varieties. Every brand should be involved in feeding trials to prevent issues like DCM. When we talked to our vet about food, she said basically there is not one superior option. But she feeds her pets Fromm, and it was a brand on our narrow list, so we also feed grain inclusive Fromm

Thus far we have not had any tummy issues, but we also switch up wet food toppers frequently.

I hope your crew is feeling better now!
