I would like some information about coparenting my baby lovebirds. This is my birds 5th hatch, all their other hatches over the years I've been working full time and have allowed the parents to raise the babies fully. I started handling the babies around 3 weeks for 15 min twice a day hoping to have them semi tame. But each time when they fledged and began to fly they were no longer tame. I don't want to take these little ones totally away from the parents this time but wondered if I could give a few feedings myself in addition to handling the babies starting around 2 or 3 weeks if that would create tame babies? Or do I have to take over feeding entirely to keep them tame? I'm not working right now so I'm free to do this however I need to. The oldest rn is 4 days, 1 is 1 day old and they have 4 more eggs to hatch so I'm researching now before they get older.

What did you do in this time? Just holdoing them is ok, but really you want to get them eating some treats with you, when they're getting older play with toys etc and keep it up while they fledge. Feeding millet spray is the best choice as lovebirds usually love it. as the birds become feathered before they fledge, you can spend more time with them than just 15 minutes.

edit to add, Have formula on hand just in case the parents stop feeding after you had the little ones out a long while.
