It definitely looks like a legit product. And yes it may reduce scratching... but I'm not a fan. I think an accident in those is all too easy, and it looks quite restricting and claustrophobic.

I think besides the scratches. It supposed to provide some random predator protection... perhaps protection from a stray it neighbor dog running in and attacking or hawks?
But in the learning video they show it roll over the chickens neck yikes! But at least talks about learning curve and working wity them.

I don't have chickens....so no idea the practical or need of this....but curious what chicken folks think

That’s pretty clever. But I bet if a big dog or owl wanted to get into that they would have no problem.

Oops. Buys a person time to get to bird if something happens. As wouldn't leave out in those cage balls alone.

It's a chicken prison even if a predator can't get the chicken the stress and chaos caused by the chicken seeing a predator could cause considerable injury.
We would advise anyone purchasing a parrot the minimum size of a cage for a comfortable caged time and that chicken is caged.

Do you think the chicken would perceive or feel imprisoned by the mesh? I thought maybe they wouldn’t notice it much sine it rolls along.

Doesn't matter for me to be honest it's a crazy idea, I wouldn't put my birds in one.

I think they say it is not a cage or to replace cage.

Can't say I would use one either.....I don't even have chickens never plan to have them. But if I did and had a coop and csfe area. And then wanted them to roam yard with me , maybe I could see the appeal...maybe ....I do have a ton of hawks , have had strange dogs show up in my frbc d yard before... unknown how ...

Call me AB
Why?
Why is it necessary to hinder their natural behaviour for what I can only assume is convenience? Scratching is literally one of the main chicken foraging behaviours, they don't just scratch for no reason. And dust bathing is actually a very important thing too.
Predator wise, I don't really think it is at all, but it's going to depend on the predator. What it is going to do is hinder natural survive skills (flight/running away) and likely injury them in the process.

Are you sure they’d be unable to scratch or dust-bathe? It looks to me like it more restricts the movement, maybe keeping the chicken confined to the lawn or larger fenced area and out of the flowerbed. Or keeping them from running away.

but I wouldn’t think it would work very well because who has just one chicken? One miserable chicken….You could buy a lot of wire fence roll for $60 or $70. Seems to make the bird very vulnerable, too. Maybe it would give you a few extra moments to get to the chicken.

i am entertained by imagining a bunch of these rolling around a chicken maze in your yard, kind of like pac-man.

They are real things and many people who live in more built up areas with limited garden spaces use them so the chooks can get fresh bugs and greenery without totally destroying pretty garden beds or flying over fences into neighbours gardens and getting attacked by their dogs and cats. I follow an account that shares pics of all their chooks in these balls out enjoying the sun.

This is a good explanation for how these are used.

I was thinking maybe due to bird flu so other birds can’t get as close to the chicken as In uk they have to be caged/fenced off now with roof on top unless laws changed so wild birds can’t get in their pen/area not free around your garden anymore but so they can have a bit more freedom
Maybe totally off but that was my first thought when I saw it
@Shezbug do you have any pictures of the chickens in them

No I don’t. If they pop up in my feed again I’ll share some pics, I can’t even remember the account name to search for them sorry.
