Bad clip?

Moony came to me with clipped wings. Last time I went out of town and took him to boarding, the man who worked there commented on how poorly his wings were clipped. I got Moony last July (2023) at three months old. He's almost a year now and I think he went through his first moult months ago, but his flight feathers remain the same. I plan on letting them grow out in hopes he can have a little more agency over his own life, he'll eventually lose them right? Can anyone tell me why this is a bad clip? (Note his wild side eye from behind his wing, lol)

Sometimes it’s really rough and takes absolutely forever to grow and molt it out. It’ll happen It took my cockatoo… gosh, probably 8 months or more - possibly closer to a year for all of them - for her flight feathers to come back in from a pretty bad clip.
