It's good to get the update. I've been wondering how Oscar was doing. He's certainly looking good.

He's doing great! Today, while I was in the bird room with the Tiels, I could hear him from the living room. He was making all these clicks and whistles and weird noises, kind of to a melody, at the end of each stanza he would say "pow-pow-pow" really
fast! It was so cute.

I finally had him in the bird room without his cage and he was like a different bird. He was walking all over, checking everything out. As @JLcribber said, "No cage, nothing to be aggressive about." I hope I'm quoting that correctly.

Best of all, when George brought his cage back into the room, Oscar FLEW up onto George's shoulder! Okay, I was jealous!

Our contractor will be putting in our double doors during this week, if nothing unforeseen comes up.

My knee is still twice the size it should be and I can barely walk. I'm also still covered in a terrible case of poison ivy, but Oscar is doing so well that I don't care. There's an issue with my insurance through my VA benefits that we're trying to get sorted out!

How are you and your flock? And your cutie new birdie?

Has Oscar been watching a lot of TV lately? There's a commercial for Buick with a song that has a repeated "pow, pow, pow." Could be he's suggesting that you buy a Buick. :D

Poison ivy is no fun and to have the knee trouble at the same time must be pretty miserable. Hope you recover soon.

We actually don't have a TV hooked up at this time! We got so used to not having TV while we were RV'ing for the last 7 years, that we didn't feel the need to start watching again. We probably will eventually.

We're leaning more towards hives than poison ivy. It's a bit too early in the season for poison ivy here and I did check for leaves of three. And I wore long sleeves and gloves (bcuz I'm allergic to just about every plant on the planet). It could've been the sticker bushes I was whacking down despite my efforts to cover myself. It's been going on for two weeks now and shows no sign of letting up. I've had episodes with hives of unknown cause in the past, but they've always been limited to my hands (once my hands were covered in blisters for 3 solid weeks). This time its everywhere on my body except my hands. Go figure.

I'm very concerned about the knee. Back in 2000 I had a similar, but less severe, injury to my left knee. It hurt for a couple of weeks then was okay. Four years later and I woke up one day and couldn't walk on it. Turns out my knee cap notches are virtually non existent and my knee cap had slipped out of place and, after 4 years, had worn through all the soft tissue and was rubbing bone on bone. Had to have surgery. I'm afraid that's what I'm probably facing again.

Other than that, all is well! Though I don't know where Oscar learned pow-pow. Must be from his past.
