So I have an M&M cage company light for Sammy's cage but want something simpler for Kitkats cage. I've heard good things about arcadia birdsun light but also reviews say the light gets really hot so I don't want the plastic to melt & harm my guys. What lights do you guys have for your birds?

I have an two Arcadia bird lights and an Arcadia reptile light. Haven't had any issues personally with then getting hot enough to melt any plastic! The reptile one has been sitting on a plastic tank frame for over a year.

Okay awesome! I think I'll go with an Arcadia bird light, those seem to be popular on here lol. How long does the bulb last & does it have a timer or?

I have the gecko on a timer, don't currently have the birds on a timer. The gecko I'm using for UVB so I have to replace it ever 12 months regardless if it's giving off light. So I actually had to replace it before it burnt out. I have only had one bird light since February and the other since April.

Genuine curiosity, UVB for the gecko but not the birds?

The birds are usually not close enough to really get the benefits of the UVB, whereas the gecko is always within the beneficial range. So they might get some, but my primary goal for their lights are to give them more light in their cages.
