I need help!! I want to purchase a macaw but have had no luck only scams.

I live in Ohio and after a few years of careful consideration I have decided since my kids are out of the nest, I want a feathered companion. I had birds growing up with my parents so now I would like my own. The internet so far has been nothing but scammers. Any advice would be greatly appreciated. I already have a habitat and an outside aviary Thanks in advance. 49 year old empty nester in need

Not sure of your location, but I would avoid any online only places.

Also, not trying to change your mind, but please check out the Macaw Motorway, the good, bad, and ugly of large macaws, and the Bird bite photos forum posts before you bring a toddler with a pair of scissors home Smaller birds are still GREAT companions, don't overlook conures (I may be biased!)

I suggest looking at rescues. There is Parrot Hope and Charlie Brown rescues in Ohio.
