I’ve come to not like cuttlebone as i found out how much bacteria they grow. But i also found out how much my boys love egg shells.

My question is- if i hard boil the egg, peel and save the shells, rinse them out really good, could i leave the shells in the cage for a day while im at work?

I’ve heard you need to grind them or the sharp edges may damage your bird. No idea if that’s true or not.

You can boil them, set to dry in the sun. Though if it's for calcium, then you are best with the egg shells over the cuttlefish bones. I don't buy those bones anymore, but if I'm down the beach and I spot them I bring them home to clean and let me birds buff their beaks and nails on :)

Grinding the shells into powder as said above is the way to feed them, sprinkle over veggies
