Hi, my cockatiel haven’t been eating since yesterday afternoon and keep vomiting. She’s looking very tired. Brought her to vet yesterday and they prescribed antibiotics, subcutaneous fluid and metalon syrup. They did X-ray on her as well and doctor suspect it might be infection. Till now, my tiel is still not eating and look very tired. How long will it take for her to start eating again?

I would call the vet's office and ask what to expect. What kind of antibiotics? I would also ask the vet about giving her probiotics. Make sure her food and water are close to where ever she is sitting so she doesn't have to use a lot of energy. Does she like millet spray? Maybe hang some near her where she can reach it easily. I hope she starts to feel better soon.

Thanks for replying! She is prescribed with doxycycline. Yup, just bought millet earlier today and she ate very little. And she also tried to eat the seeds as well. I guess it’s recovering a little. But her dropping is still white and watery. Is it because of the anitibiotic?

Did the vet do any tests, like a gram stain?

Yes, they did. She’s more active now. But she still not eating the pellets and only want seeds or millet. What should I do to make her eat more pellets?

While she's not feeling well let her eat whatever she will eat. It's really more important that she eats to keep her strength up. Will she eat any vegetables? Maybe some mashed sweet potato?
