Alexandrine behavior

I recently bought a baby (2 months aprox) alexandrine(unknown gender) from a family that dont seem to be breeders but just wanted to sell the babies of their adult alexandrines. When i first arrived at their home there were 2 baby alexandrines which was originally 3(assuming they had already sold 1). They were both very quiet and still and wouldnt bite or lunge at all. They also didnt mind stepping up onto your hand but would soon fly away. Once i decided on one of the babies to pick, i brought it home without a problem. However, the parrot has ever since been very quiet barely making any noise. The worst part is its biting and how it will almost every time lunge at my finger once i reach into its cage. Even if he/she doesnt lunge, then it would start nipping on my hand when i am close enough. However at times i am able to pick him/her up and take it outside its cage for a walk about. When it is not near its cage, he/she does not bite at all. But then after a little bit it would start looking for its cage from the other room and fly back to it or onto the chandelier. Could this be cage aggression or something like sibling separation anxiety? Ive had it for roughly 20 days now. He/she does alright with stick training and often steps up onto my hand when im trying to teach it to step up. Help me out please with any advice.

If this baby is only 8 weeks old or so , it's not ready to be treated like an adult bird . It's a baby, it would be staying in, or near the nest and being attended by parents. It natural to feel anxious away from it's safe spot.

there is a lot to cover about babies, unweaned, or newly weaned babies , juvenile parrots. I just am not up for it as I am under the weather . Hopefully other members will step and advise.

you can also research parrot life stages , this is the most important life stage of your bird . You are guiding, teaching, building life skills and confidence but in a way appropriate for a baby / juvenile. Birds grow a d develop quickly but this is basically a toddler. The need to eat more often even if weaned, they need more naps

I only gave this a quick read , but seems a decent article

Hello, Welcome,

Wow, such a young bird! That's upsetting they sold that bird to you so young.

Going back to the cage is normal, as Laura touched on above, as soon as they have eaten, they will make their way back to the safety of the nest for rest.

It is incredibly important that you are keeping this baby nice and warm, feeding a good quality food at 105F, at the right consistency, no lumps, humidity set to 60-65%. Please let the baby rest between feeds, it is important they rest while they grow, so after feeding, you can take them back to their nest to make it easier for them. Don't let them waste energy by having to scramble back on their own.

Some helpful links;
This is an ongoing thread with another member who also has a young Alexandrine and some of the concerns along the way;
