The baby is zooming around, we're watching him constantly. But problem is he's eating very less. He has absolutely refused to take any formula preparation, but not eating pellets or sprouts also. I checked his weight, it's 190 gm ( 20 gm less than last week). Poop is normal but less in volume. His entire focus is on trying to fly. He's not playing with other toys and ha become quite vocal.
I'm worried, friends. @Zara, @Monica please comment.

That sounds like normal fledgling. They will become very active and lose some weight as they are flying about all the time and burning energy. I'd keep him stocked in his favorite foods to make sure he's getting enough calories.

You can expect some weight loss during fledging as the baby burns off baby fat and starts to replace it with muscle. Being able to fly is a new adventure and sometimes babies will do this at the expense of almost everything, including eating. It's the newest and now the best thing in their world. Offer a lot of different food and put it in places where the baby likes to land. If he will explore his world independently, this is a great time to teach him to forage for his food. It is great mental and physical stimulation for them. Place small dishes of different types of food everywhere and make it a game for him to find his favorite. A small piece of fruit here, a small piece of a vegetable there, then a pile of pellets somewhere else, and a dish of water here and there. Change them around and keep him always searching. Weigh him in the morning after his first poop and I'm sure it won't take too long before you see the weight starting to go up again.

Thanks @BrianB, it's so nice to hear from you. How is your macaw experience going on this year?

Thanks. Keep us up to date on your Alex. I love them. It’s never dull with a life full of macaws. At the moment I’m at work showing the calendar to the hyacinth and counting out my vacation days for him. He knows my schedule very well and I don’t want him being a nightmare to everyone while I’m gone. We’ll see how that goes.

Yes.

@SumitaSinh I agree with @BrianB of this being pretty normal behavior. Many people start struggling to get babies to eat food once they start to REALLY explore and try to fly! They'll be able to get a *little* bit of food into the baby and they baby just takes off flying!

I would also suggest working on recall training this baby so that if he/she ever ends up somewhere you can't reach, you can always call the baby back to you!

That's just what he's doing. Thank you so much. I was getting worried even this evening.
As for the recall, can you please provide me any thread!

You could use food, toys, treats for recall training - being that you have a baby, it's going to be slow progress! As you are dealing with a short attention span! A lot of this involves stepping up and hopping then to flying... but you can recall train a bird and have them WALK to you as well!

Here are some various sources that may help! :)

Thank you so much.
Today I've proved that you can’t be smarter than mom. I put him in a semi-dark room and fed the formula. He was really hungry and took it. Naturally, there was spilling, spitting etc but the result was more or less satisfactory. :D
