I’ve been using them for diy forage toys for both the birbs and my bun, Obviously none that are dyed or have glue residue but, I’ve been told its unsafe because of Bleach?!? Is this even true? Do they contain bleach? Should i remove the diy toys asap? My bun has been playing with them for all two years of his life and theres been no issues, Is it different for birds? Is thre even bleach? aghhh please help :c

Toilet paper and paper towels are often bleached to get that white appearance. I am not sure how much bleach would be left on the paper, and then even less would be on the core. The article Lady Jane linked to is a good one to weigh the potential risks.

Birds and small animals are often sensitive to similar things.

Thank you!! I read the article, I think they should be fine with a few of the diy toys. I’ll just cut back on the ones i grab from the bathroom (I had no idea e.coli could be present in our bathrooms, Eek!!!!)

Eek is right. One should close toilet lid before flushing. Also the drains in BR should be flushed out with vinegar and baking soda combo. I found out that those tiny bugs like to make a home in drains.

Even with the lid closed, plenty of particulates get spread. Bathrooms are quite gross.

Paper towel and toilet paper rolls preform a very menial task, therefore are most likely made from the nastiest (cheapest) stuff on the planet. I wouldnt chew one so why would i let my birds chew on them.

I wouldn’t let either birds or buns chew them. I have budgies who will eat paper if given the chance & one of my late buns would eat it instead of hay if given the chance - not a great situation!
