We decided to take Mo and Einstein outside today since it was such a beautiful day. Mo is not very good about putting his harness on, but loves it when he gets outside and I won't take them outside without one on.

Well, I was holding him and Darren was trying to get the harness around his wings. The little bugger took off and I looked down and I had EVERY SINGLE ONE of his tail feathers in my hand!!!!! I just looked up and started bawling.

I honestly did not even know that I had closed my hand around them. It all happened so fast. Darren still made me put the leash on him and take him outside, but I really just wanted to sit there and apologize for the rest of my life!

He doesn't seem to hate me and has been giving me lots of kisses. He looks quite strange tail-less. I'm such a bad mommy!:(

Know the feeling!
I have had that happen to me also and it's like they "let" them loose...or so it feels when they come out so easy! :hug8:

Ah! I've done this before sortof. Evee was on the floor in front of me and my big toe came down on the tip of his tail and he released all his tail feathers! I practically peed myself!! He was ok, and ended up growing a beautiful tail back in its place, but I felt horrible. He was my buttless bird for a month or so. We have a FB exclusive video on our fan page... I was too embarrassed to put it up on YouTube... lol. That was over a year ago. :o:

It always amazes me when I hear this. Sometimes I expect to see a little ejector button somewhere. :hug5:

awwww don't feel bad, it sounds like he dropped them, you didn't pull them, he wold have squawked and been in pain if they were pulled out. parrots especially macaws, tiels, and conures can drop their tail in an effort to escape much like a reptile can, when they do it, it is painless. As apposed to them being pulled out, that is painful.
