Hey sorry bout the delay forgot how to use this, his diet is good an he showers weekly and my mum puts his little bath for him to jump in from time to time but his back with me now as I'm still taking a break from work which is good so I can keep an eye on him he is starting to look better think I was stressing because haven't seen him like that before

I've heard from a few people that their Asiatic parrot sometimes has "rough" molts, where they do get a LOT of their new feathers all at once instead of gradually. If he has lots of pins, maybe that's happening to him this time.

He's pretty cute :)

Is this the first time you've seen him go through a molt? If this molts look different from past molts, that might be concerning.

However, this could be what he always looks like during a molt. I adopted an Indian ringneck over a year ago and his owner told me he looks really rough during a molt. I was surprised by how bad he looked in a molt! He got really patchy like your bird, if not even a little more patchy.

But he molted fine and looks normal. None of my other birds look remotely as rough my ringneck when they molt.

One thing that can help is offering a little more protein and calories. Feathers are protein, and molts requires at minimum 25,% more than their base calories .

I find offering an animal source protein helpful, I offer boiled or scrambled eggs, a little well cooked chicken or salmon, I've even offered a little cooked shrimp. But I offer plant based proteins too, lentils, peas , nuts. I like walnuts. Never hurts to offer more of beta carotene foods like peppers, cooked sweet potato, pumpkin, carrot, mango
