There's a situation happening in my area where a breeder abandoned their entire bearded dragon project - 200+ beardies. The rescues have filled up, and I was asked to hold some as well while we work in getting then adopted out.

It would be significantly cheaper to breed some sort of feeder. I was thinking about doing superworms because I've accidentally bred a few hundred before and they're really easy, but my partner just mentioned he thinks they put off ammonia that wouldn't be safe around the birds? I have no idea.

I can't remember who has reptiles... @Spearmint i think? @Mizzely ?

I mean, ammonia build up is easy to avoid by keeping a clean colony

I will once I make sure that they’re pretty healthy. There are at least two that I’m taking that are going to be in what is probably hospice care

Finding homes - I'm.just overflow for the reptile rescue. they ran out of space in their building, and then ran out of their normal fosters because there are so many lizards.

really I won’t be doing much other than keeping them alive for a while since I’m not a regular volunteer or foster with the rescue. They'll be doing the application and interviews for homes, I'm just sort of... An orphanage?

I agree with Dubia’s if you can handle it. I’ve seen people do solider flys as well but I’m not at all versed on them. I just kept crickets when I had reptiles

Dubias are wicked easy and very low fuss. That's the primary diet I use for my leopard gecko. Crickets are wretched in comparison lol

Yeah... I can probably do dubia...

It's just after The Roaching Of 2023 I'm not real keen on rosches at all.

(My neighbor had a roach infestation, which meant I had them too, and I'm still mentally recovering)

It was horrendous. Despite the bird room always looking like a wreck, I keep a clean AF kitchen and seeing roaches was just... There's no faster way to feel like you're the worst person. Even knowing they came from the house next door when it was fumigated (because apparently the dang things travel) it's just embarrassing even to yourself.

I completely understand,I went through something similar many years ago and I still get triggered from it.

Wish I could provide insight, I've got no reptiles! The mealworms I have are freeze dried for my hermit crabs.
Best of luck!
