My thought is stray dogs. Some dogs were bred for bloodsport, most successfully pit bulls. I don’t see a wild animal bothering with mangling a chicken but not eating it. That’d be a waste of energy, time & resources for a wild animal. Get cameras so you know what you’re dealing with.

And a 4th will probably not make it. I'm so pissed.

I reinforced the absolute frick out of that run and something chewed straight through it. Dragged three girls out of the coop while they were sleeping and mangled one other.

How do you keep out predators?!
Oh my so sorry that you lost 4 of your chickens. A miniature donkey is what my friend has to protect her flock of chickens. She swears by it! She didn't really have room for a full sized donkey. People say to keep a few geese with the chickens also because they are territorial and can be quite aggressive. A big dog if it doesn't like chicken itself and I am not trying to be funny.

Unfortunately I live within city limits, so a donkey or a livestock guardian dog aren't possible :(

What kind of setup do you have for their coop? We've had them dragged out of the run before but never the coop, ours is concrete bottom and has a hatch door that gets closed at night. Predators can't get in if they can't dig under. If you don't have a nighttime roosting coop with a closable door for them, you need to get one or build one. It will also make the chickens feel safer at night rather than just sleeping out in the open in the run.

I'm so very sorry. We lost our beloved duck earlier this year to a coyote who'd jumped our 8 foot fence to drag her up and over. The year before another duck was killed by a raccoon. My son created a box of sorts using cattle panel lined with smaller gauge mesh. He also pounded rebarb along the bottom of the fenceline, just in case. So far, so good.
