A green wing or b&g macaw or a Rose cockatoo
Of course I would love a Hyacinth Macaw
I have owned parrots as part of rescues for 20 years and have been a member here for about 15 years. I am in Mississippi and own my home. I love birds and can provide for one. I will be traveling to Florida next week.

Macaws are well known to have very sensitive airways, and as such do not do well in homes with power down species such as African greys, cockatoos and cockatiels. Being kept together can, and unfortunately often does, lead to an agonizing death for the macaw. While there is no guarantee that this will be the outcome, there is a very good chance of it, so I, along with many members here, would strongly recommend that this not be done.

Have you considered budgies? They’re severely underrated & frequently available for rehoming!

While it is admirable you are advocating for the little guys, I don't think it is helpful to this member as they are not even close to the species they are looking for.

@Cynth Is there a rescue/shelter in your area that can help pair you up with a bird? Anything on resell websites?

Mississippi is terrible for finding parrots. I have my name in to a few places. Was in contact with a woman in TN. Wish she was on this site to read my years of posts. I understand her lack of truat but she is considering giving her gorgeous irrd to a rescue.

If my kids were smaller, I would have budgies again but once you have a scarlet and 3 african greys and amazons...a parakeet just isnt it.

Almost all of them belonged to the rescue in MD we worked for or fostered for. A couple really sick birds we adopted and put thousands into but eventually those passed. I wrote about them here many years ago. I have been on here off and on for about 15 years.
