Once a fortnight Batman is given a seed bell as a treat. I refuse to purchase them as a while back on another site I was told that often wood glue is used as a binding agent in them.

my 8 year old dd insisted on taking some photos, please excuse my kitchen mess and chubby arms LOL

step 1. seperate an egg white, discard the yolk, into a bowl

step 2. Batman wont touch his cuttlefish so i chop some of that to go into the bell as well.

step 3. add in your seed mix. Batmans includes Pasta's rice, dried fruits, egg shell, grains and cereals.

step 4. a small bit of honey.

step 5. and stir it all up.

step 6. pop into a muffin tray. I use silicon bakeware so that I dont need to use any oils for non stick. Pop a small amount into the bottom, add in your baking string and then cover with more seed mix.
Bake on your ovens lowest setting for several hours or until they go hard.

step 7. the final result. trim excess string for safety. They last well in an air tight container. I bake a full tray a month. 1 for his cage, 1 to store for the following week and the rest go into our tree for the wild birds.

I am terrible, everything that Batman gets the wildbirds get some as well. Seed bells, pine cone treats, Batmans left over seed goes into flax bags which are then hung in the tree. Batman gets sprouts grown in flax bags also and the wildbirds love that!

WOW!! So great to have the step by step directions..Super Idea!!!
I feed the back and front yard birds but just with the bought wild bird seeds, so this is another good treat for them..
I also give them any leftovers from Newbie and the squirrels and chipmunks love them..
Thankss soo much for this as I am running out of bird muffins and needed to get some more treat ideas for him..
So here it is!!
I suppose they can be frozen..Right???

to be honest I have never tried to freeze them. I dont see any reason why they coudlnt be frozen. they keep very well in an airtight container for a week or more though.
