Hello, I am so glad this page is here. So my conure went to the hospital last Saturday and was critically ill with a partial obstruction and a bacterial infection god has answered my prayers and he has survived and he has passed the foreign object as well as healing from severe distention. They sent him home with enofloxacin and metoclopramide I wake him up about 7 times a day and he has been eating drinking and pooping but is sleeping for almost all day since I brought him home Tuesday. Can the meds he is on make him so this tired? How long do you think before I should see him happy, chirping, and flying again?

The internet says there are a few side effects of Reglan. One of them being drowsy and lack of energy. There are a couple other side effects you should probably be on the lookout for. Google side effects of Reglan. I would imagine he will get back to his old self when hes done with his meds.

Thank you, I am hoping he will get back to himself after the meds. I’m so thankful he has survived. I’m guessing as long as he is eating drinking and pooping then he is healing

The power of prayer and birds incredible will to survive. How much longer will he be on meds? Im certainly no expert but i would agree , if hes eating drinking and pooping normal poop, i think everything will be ok. Will you keep us updated?

Of course definitely will keep updating. He has 9 more days on meds. He is such a little fighter and the lord definitely gave me a miracle. The night before he was released the dr said I would have to euthanize him by morning if he does not show any improvement. I prayed all night and the next morning the dr said he was significantly better and so I got to take my baby home. As of right now he still doesn’t talk much at all and he tail bobs so I’m hoping about the time he is done with his meds he won’t be tail bobbing no more and he will talk and play again.

Is he still sleeping all the time? It must be powerful medicine. He looks exhausted. Is the vet aware of his sleepiness ? Is he still eating and drinking normally? Did you ask the vet about the tail bobbing? I wonder if hes doing it to keep his balance.

He is still very sleepy all the time and his tail still bobs. He can hold his balance, when I put him in his cage he climbs all over to beg me to get him out I told the vet about his sleepiness and his tail bobbing, she said he is on the mend and is unsure about his outcome. He is eating, drinking and pooping though. Today he did a little dance to my whistle. I feed him peas, wheat toast, almonds, oats, roudybush pellets and seeds. I am trying to get him to eat carrots kale and peppers but he wants no part of it.
