Hi! I thought I'd share my favorite DIY foraging toy to make. It takes a bit or time, but it works really well and Mango, my lovebird, loves it!
you will need:
1. A small but long cardboard box
2. String
3.crinkle paper or newspaper
4. Treats
5. Scissors
6. Extra cardboard
Step1.
Devide your box into three sections by drawing lines with a pencil
step 2.
Draw shapes on the box where you will cut out holes. step 3.cut out the shapes
step 4.
Cut along the lines you drew LEAVING ONE SIDE ON OPPOSITE SIDES ATTATCHED
step 4.
Cut two extra pieces of cardboard that will fit under the sections to make each section into a box. MAKE SURE THEY ARE SLIGHTLY LARGER THAN THE BOTTOM OF THE BOX
step 5.
Punch a hole in the middle of the cardboard pieces. Attach the cardboard pieces by folding the ends and fitting them in the bottom of the top and middle section, until they won't come off
Also punch a hole top and bottom ends of the box so the string can go through.
step 6.
string the string through the bottom, then sliding it through the middle of the whole box (tie a Knott at the bottom of the box. If the Knott goes through, you can put a button before the Knott to keep it in place)
step 7.
Fill the boxes with treats and paper.
Step 8.
hang up for birdie to enjoy!
