Costco/Kirkland Parchment Paper

I've used parchment paper for a bit now as it makes clean up of my glass baking dishes easier. I noticed today that the Costco brand says "non stick." Thoughts? I've been way more paranoid when it comes to Ari's safety lately.

A lot of parchment paper is coated :(

My city compost program had a cheat sheet for brands but I just buy the ones labeled compostable now so I don't forget

All parchment paper is non stick. Its treated with silicone. Thats what makes it parchment paper. If youre concerned, maybe you could use aluminum foil instead. Otherwise the internet says…..

Unbleached parchment paper is a much better option for your cooking and baking needs. Parchment with a vegetable silicone coating has not been through any bleaching processes and does not have any added metals or chemicals. It is a more natural and healthy option when it comes to cooking or baking in high heats.

Thanks for that info snippet, @Rebel - I couldn't remember what the unbleached versions were made from versus some brands that used stuff I wasn't comfortable with.

I do use aluminum foil for things I cook at a little higher heat, but I like being able to send paper to composting over recycling foil (it has to be a big ball or stuffed in a can, or it gets missed by the sorting machine, and can't be saturated in food i.e. bacon grease lol) so I still use parchment paper quite a bit.

Keep in mind, non stick aluminum foil is also coated with silicone. We used to use it a lot until i found that out. Now we're back to using old school regular aluminum foil.

I have a feeling that I'm going back to not lining my glass baking dishes/pans. I found the If You Care parchment paper. It is compostable per the box, though it is coated with silicone.

Old school. We survived without stuff like that.
