Hey!
I have two crazy caique boys (15 and 7), and I have been thinking about getting some more parrots in the future. Obviously, I am aware that my boys would likely attack any other parrot species and will keep them separate from one another. I am not sure exactly what it is that I am looking for, but here are some thoughts...
Any tips will be welcome. Thank you!

I have two crazy caique boys (15 and 7), and I have been thinking about getting some more parrots in the future. Obviously, I am aware that my boys would likely attack any other parrot species and will keep them separate from one another. I am not sure exactly what it is that I am looking for, but here are some thoughts...
- Smaller, similar size or slightly larger than my boys (nothing bigger than say an Amazon or something like that).
- No dusty birds (as in feather dust/dander) - I have asthma and would like to avoid anything that might become a problem in the future.
- Funny, playful and personable would be preferred. I have caiques after all and feel like they suit me well.
- I am not sure if I am looking for something similarly high maintenance (as my boys) or something "easier" in therms of them demanding training, company and play etc. so I am open for suggestions either way (low and high maintenance birds).
- Would love if they would be slightly different in colors or if there are two very similar species that can live together and understand each other. In my country you have to (law) get two parrots (at least) and they should be of the same or of a very similar species (there are some exceptions, but I believe in giving all social species a friend). I have one Black headed, and one White bellied caique for example. Like to be able to easily tell the difference, and like that they look different.
- Not super loud. I live in an apartment, aka. I am sharing walls with neighbors. Also, I have quite sensitive ears, tinnitus etc. My boys (caiques) can be loud sometimes, but I am ok with their noise...would prefer if it would not be louder though. Amazon = way too loud, for example. So quieter or similar in loudness to caiques.
- No special dietary demands such as lories/lorikeets etc. I feel like it is complicated enough with veggies, fruits, nuts, seeds, soaked seeds/sprouts and so on. My boys get a variety of different fresh foods and TOPS pellets (I am looking into incorporating other things such as freeze-dried stuff, flowers etc. as well).
- Not necessary, but I prefer a shorter type tail (shorter feathers, such as the stocky build of a caique). Not a huge fan of tiny birds with super long, thin tail feathers. I love budgies, though, so there are exceptions... open for both types.
- Budgies - always had a soft spot for these cuties.
- Lovebirds - specifically (I think) fischeri and personatus
- Green cheek conures
- Senegal and Meyers
- (Cape parrots - but I suspect they may be dusty?)
- (Mini/Hahns Macaw - but might be too loud?)
- Parrotlets
- Quaker parrot
Any tips will be welcome. Thank you!
