Canary Winged Parakeets & Dogs

I don’t know if anyone is on here with a Canary Winged Parakeet anymore. I’m wondering how they do around dogs - are they prone to getting on the floor like Cockatiels are?
I have 2 senior dogs that have always been fine with my Green Cheeks. Of course I’m always supervising. But then, my Greenies aren’t prone to flying to the floor.

Hey! My CWP doesn't really like to be on the floor, usually the opposite. He loves being on my shoulder, his stand, or cage. I wouldn't worry too much about the floor but remember every bird is different

If you don't mind me asking where are you planning on purchasing your CWP from?

Well, I’m just in the pondering stages but I met one yesterday at a rescue an hour 1/2 away from me. Called Birds of a Feather Albuquerque. He is just a year old.
I really want to find another Green Cheek since my girl passed but I’m staying open minded. And he was so tiny I thought - maybe I could do both? A CWP and another Green Cheek when one comes up?

Unfortunately I didn’t! It was so chaotic I didn’t even get to spend much time with him. Something spooked him outside the window and he was flying all over the place. So I really only got to spend about 5 minutes with him. I’ll definitely need to go back. But in those 5 minutes he seemed like a little love!

They definitely can be aggressive! My CWP can be quite aggressive towards my Bourke parakeet but friendly towards my cockatiel. (Even though Kiwi doesn't like it ) I make sure they aren't out at the same time and too close.

It really depends on each bird, it should help that the greenies are bigger than him though. Besides that, they are total love bugs

Thank you @Kiwi's Dad This information is helpful. Duckie is already pretty aggressive. He’s aggressive with my partner, and he was aggressive with Paloma until the very end of her life. I know that any parrot be aggressive but maybe it’d be better to have another Green Cheek. Hmmm

I take that you love greenies

Oh, I love them all - trust me. But since I started with a Greenie who will live another 10 years if I'm lucky, I'm trying to think about the flock dynamics. I really want that CWP but I have to think about what's best for Duckie. Then again, the woman at the rescue thought I might do well with one of the DYH Amazons. Ha! I'm open to that too! But it has to do with the spaces in my house and how everyone would interact with each other.

My boy is a cranky old man who only likes people. They are little live bugs but get excessively hormonal and tend to bond with one person... and switch when they get bored xD
