Adopted from PetSmart

Unsure if this is the right place for this... admin let me know and I will remove immediately.

I adopted a GCC a while ago before christmas from a woman in NC who had previously gotten him from PetSmart. I am not sure if he is considered a jouvenile or an adult??? Is there a way I can tell? he was apparently born on July 6, 2022. Does that make him a little baby bird or does that make him an adult? I have researched when they reach sexual maturity and it varies per bird.

Please advise. Even the avian vet I took him to didn't give me a straight answer.

He's over a year and a half old. I would say he's an adult. You could always call him a young adult for the next few months.
He is definitely not a baby bird (as much as we call them it! ).

I always thought they were juvenile or sub adult until 2 or 3 - but I think that's just because of where dogs usually fall into "age brackets"

I’m going to go with juvenile because it’s more like three ish when they start to calm down and go into breeding mode like trying to woo for a partner etc. teeny boppers

GCC are reproductive by a year , so this is a full adult birdie. Congratulations!

My GCC Cricket has been doing mating displays and such since around 14 months
