What makes Avian Avenue birds so special?

Our baby birds aren't just hand-fed, they are lovingly socialized to many people. They are also given a large variety of safe toys while they are still very young, this makes them happy to receive a new toy instead of being afraid of it. Our babies are not "force weaned" which makes their weaning process more pleasurable, and not overly stressing. This has a dramatic effect on their personality and their psyche. We also allow them to fly for a period of time so they develop much nicer muscled-out chests, not thin and frail. When they get their wings clipped we do it gradually over a few weeks so they are not suddenly shocked by the fact they can't fly. This also has a huge effect on them psychologically. Our birds are also used to their traveling crates, so shipping, trips to a friend or a vet is much less stressful. Our babies are all taught how to "step up" as well as "step off." All our babies are closed-banded. Our bands have the American Federation of Aviculture logo and initials and are traceable. State and year are also imprinted on the bands.

What is the breeding program and where is it?

All our breeding birds (as well as our pets) have all been examined by an Avian Veterinarian. Our flight cages are 6 feet tall, 8 feet long, and 4 feet wide, allowing the birds to have the option of flying. All cages are raised off the ground, stocked with plenty of perches and things for them to chew on. They are raised outdoors all year long, and of course have wind, sun, and rain protection. Our birds are fed fresh foods, such as beans, tricolor pasta, corn, peas, carrots, and much more. They are also fed ZuPreem pellets, and seed (no sunflower). The parents all incubate their own eggs, and feed the babies for the first two weeks, giving the babies an excellent start (parent-fed babies at two weeks are always much larger than day-one fed babies). We are located in Southern California.

What are your policies, and do you ship?

All our babies are health guaranteed. Upon receiving a baby from us, you have 48 hours to have it examined by a qualified Avian Veterinarian (at buyer's expense). The tests run will be determined by the buyer and their vet. Please
Contact Us for further info. We ship from LAX only when weather permits. We try to use only direct flights to minimize potential problems during transit. Shipping is at buyer's expense, and may include health certificate fees, if applicable. The buyer may send us an airline approved carrier, or we will provide one at a minimal additional cost.
