[Red Lored Amazon]
The red-lored amazon is known for its steady, gentle nature. They are not as loud as other amazons are, but are also fair talkers. Red-loreds have one of the highest ratings as far as loyalty and affection for their people. They have a playful outgoing personality.

Ricky Divot is a domestically bred bird, hatched in 1991. Ricky is a very outgoing talkative bird. One of his favorite things to do is answer "Hello" to knocking on wood (which he can imitate as well.

Lady Di is a mature import. She is quite shy, although she really comes to life when its shower time! She has come around in being more assertive though since being moved into a big flight cage (4x6x8 ft)

Description:
Length: 35 cm; The plumage of the red-lored amazon is a general green. Their forehead and lores are red, upper cheeks and ear-coverts yellow. The iris is orange. Their crown and nape are tinged with lilac-blue. The secondary flight feathers have a red patch. They have a horn-colored beak, streaked with black, and gray legs.

Differences of sub-species:
A.a. salvini without yellow cheeks; in A.a. lilacina the red of forehead and lores extends along eyes and ears; A.a. diadema has crimson forehead turning to deep red at the lores.

Distribution:
A.a. autumnalis: Carribean coast from Tamaulipas, Mexico to N-Nicaragua; Bay Islands of Honduras
A.a. salvini: SE-Nicaragua, E- and SW-Costa Rica to W-Columbia
A.a. lilacina: W-Ecuador, only north of Gulf of Guayaquil.
A.a. diadema: NW-Brazil between Rio Negro and upper Amazonas.
